This week we worked on:

Journeys: Lesson 20 - We completed the activities in the book and practiced the vocabulary. Students also took a spelling, vocabulary, grammar quiz.

Grammar: Unit 11 “Present Perfect Simple vs Past Simple / The verb used to

Math: We did Ch 6 L2 One Quantity as a Percentage of Another till page 25

Science: We completed Unit 21 “Energy and Heat”

Literary Elements: “Author’s Purpose”

 

 

6^th Grade English Review Exam 1 Semester 2

Date: Thursday, March 24^th, 2022

 Grammar: (24%)

Review Resource: Live English Grammar Units 9-11

a)    a) Reflexive-Emphatic Pronouns/Which?/One-Ones

            b) Present Perfect Simple

       c)  Present Perfect Simple vs. Past Simple

 

Literary Devices: (20%)

            Students will have to answer a series of questions identifying the genre, author’s point of view, and author’s purpose.

 

50 New Vocabulary Words: (16%)

Review Resource: Journeys Vocabulary Worksheets for Lessons 16 – 20

Students will have to read sentences and fill in the blank with the correct vocabulary word.

 

Reading (20%)

Students will have to answer ten comprehension questions based on a short given text.  Full sentence answers are required. There will also be questions for their stories in Journeys from this term (L16 – 20). Attention will be paid to understanding of the text, effort put forth in answering the questions, and quality of answers.

Creative Writing (20%)

Students will write a 3-paragraph essay based on their respective in-class readers.  Knowledge of literary devices discussed in class thus far will need to be demonstrated.  Topics will not be told beforehand but an understanding of the chapters they have read so far in class will suffice to write a good essay.

Unit 20– Energy Conversion

Students will solve math and word problems based on the following units in PRIME 6B.

Ch 6. L 1: Part of a Whole as a Percent

Ch 6. L 2: One Quantity as a Percent of Another

Ch 6. L 3: Problem Solving
